Touring ideas and day tours in Royal Deeside

Royal Deeside scenery has a characteristic Scottish blend of moody mountains, lofty crags, tumbling rivers and moors and forests. Balmoral Castle, summer home of the Royal Family, is one of the many attractions together with numerous villages such as Ballater and Braemar through to Aboyne and Banchory – and Highland Gatherings galore in the summer.

You can drive along quiet roads and follow signs to all kinds of fascinating places, or leave the car behind and relax on our excellent bus network. Alternatively you could be more energetic and take to two wheels on your own or a hired bike. Royal Deeside is fantastic cycling and motor bike touring country – big country touring in Scotland at its very best.

There is really something round every corner in Royal Deeside for the touring and sightseeing enthusiast. And the Grampian tourist trails are the best anywhere in the UK.
